American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Produces Compelling Video for Parents and Legal Professionals
Chicago, IL, November 2, 2015 — The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) has announced the release of The Voices of the Children of Divorce, a powerful DVD that examines the impact that divorce and custody battles can have on the emotional well-being of children who are caught in the middle. It has been specially produced to be seen by parents, family members, and any legal professional involved in the process.
“Everyone who finds themselves involved in cases with children would benefit from a viewing of this video. In a custody dispute, nothing can be more powerful than hearing the actual words of children who are caught in the middle of the battle,” said James McLaren, president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. “This video strongly places the emphasis on the hurtful impact that the process can have on kids, which is a perspective that a parent must never overlook or ignore.”
The Voices of the Children of Divorce consists of a roundtable discussion between six teenaged actors who powerfully portray the real life experiences, thoughts and actual quotes from kids who have gone through a difficult divorce. The video, which is approximately 17 minutes in length, provides a poignant insight into the deepest emotions of children as they try to navigate their way through custody and divorce conflicts between their parents. The children also offer helpful advice to other kids going through the process, underscoring the need for them to communicate their feelings directly with their parents so that the adults better recognize that they are not the only victims of the marital breakup. The video concludes with invaluable tips for parents going through a family law matter and refers viewers to other Academy publications as helpful resources to better handle divorce and custody issues.
