AAML ARBITRATION TRAINING INSTITUTE
Save your seat for one of the limited spots available at the AAML Arbitration Training Institute on June 6-7, 2024, in Chicago, IL. AAML Fellows will obtain their AAML Arbitrator certification.  

With Family Law Arbitration trending as an increasingly viable ADR process across the country, and as the only professional training family law arbitration institute in the country, AAML offers to AAML Fellows an opportunity to receive their AAML Arbitrator certification. The Arbitration Training Institute includes:

  • Pre-training zoom sessions with your designated advisor
  • Pre-training webinar explains the history of arbitration and examines the current state of arbitration status in the U.S. as well as ethical issues for arbitrators
  • Relevant statutes, and case law along with professional responsibilities of an arbitrator
  • Two days of in-person training on June 6-7, 2024, in Chicago focused on the foundational skills of how to conduct a successful arbitration
  • A post-training session with your advisor to review and provide direct feedback on the participant’s arbitration award

Fellows completing the program will receive the certification as an AAML Arbitrator. Non-Fellows completing the program will receive acknowledgement of their participation in the program.

Instructors: This year’s instructors feature experienced family law arbitrators Carolyn Moran Zack of Momjian Anderer LLC and Rochelle B. “Shelly” Grossman of Potts Shoemaker & Grossman, LLC, who trained 35 participants at last year’s AAML Arbitration Institute as well as many family lawyers as arbitrators in Montana, Maryland, Virginia, and DC.  Carolyn Moran Zack authored the treatise on Family Law Arbitration: Practice, Procedures, and Forms, published by the ABA and the treatise will be provided to the participants as part of their materials for this training. They will be joined by David M. Johnson of Johnson Kush.

*Eligibility: Enrollment is limited and open to AAML Fellows and on a waitlist basis to non-Fellows who meet the AAML admission practice requirements of practicing a minimum of 7 years, with the last five years, practicing a minimum of 75% in matrimonial and family law. Non-Fellows interested in attending should email Michelle Young to confirm eligibility requirements.

Hotel Information: AAML has reserved a block of hotel rooms at the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, just a five-minute walk from the Gleacher Center. The hotel block will close Wednesday, May 8.
