Train to become an AAML certified arbitrator

Arbitration offers a less formal, and often more cost-effective alternative to traditional litigation, arbitration offers parties a forum to definitively resolve disputes with the undivided attention of an arbitrator.  Arbitration is binding and final, unlike mediation, unless the parties have agreed otherwise.  This is one more tool to utilize as a form of consensual dispute resolution.

The process is considered more streamlined in the settling of a dispute.  The discovery process is usually not involved.  All the involved parties and clients will likely provide evidence during action and the use of arbitration is usually around efficient and the most economical resolution.

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) offers a comprehensive and highly acclaimed forty-hours of intense but insightful focus on the issues of arbitration.  This program contains both basic and advanced concepts and concentrates on when arbitration can best be used, the benefits, how it works and the nuances of the various legislation.

Some of the topics that are addressed include the AAML Model Act/ Uniform Family Arbitration Act, dedicated statutes/rules, ethics and conflicts of interest, effective award writing, forms to utilize, selection and fees involved.

The seminar is conducted with an exceptionally high standard of speakers and trainers and using an interactive format with role play, lectures and collaborative sessions working in small groups, focusing on the skills required to become an effective and accredited arbitrator.

Completing the 40-hour program enables Fellows to be certified as AAML arbitrators and listed as such on the AAML website and hold themselves out to the public.
